Top 15 Ways to Build Your Subscriber List

Email marketing can be profitable for any business, no matter what kind of product or service you are selling. It is significantly cheaper than other advertising methods and it helps build credibility with your subscribers. As a result, you can generate more sales and profits.

The foundation for successful email marketing is a targeted, responsive and permission-based email list. If you have a list of subscribers that trust you and consider you an expert, you've completed the first step and are on your way!

Below you will several list-building ideas that will help you make the most of your email marketing efforts:
  1. Provide useful, relevant and unique content. Your visitors will not give you their email addresses just because they can subscribe to your newsletter free of charge. You have to provide unique and valuable information that will be useful to your subscribers.
  2. Add a subscription form to every page of your website. Make sure it stands out so it is easy to find. If appropriate, you can also include it in more than one place. For instance, your opt-in form might always appear in the top-left corner of your site, while you also include an opt-in at the bottom of some of your popular articles.
  3. Make it easy for your reader to sign up. The more information you request, the fewer people will opt-in. In most cases, a name and an email address should suffice. If it's not necessary, don't include it here. (Note: If you don't have a Privacy Policy, put the words "privacy policy generator" into a search engine and you should be able to find a suitable form for your readers to review.
  4. Publish a Privacy Policy. Let your readers know that they can be confident you will not share their information with others. The easiest way to do this is to set up a Privacy Policy web page and provide the link to it below your opt-in form.
  5. Show your first issue or other sample to your visitors. This lets potential subscribers review your newsletter before they sign up to determine if it is something they'd be interested in.
  6. Archive past newsletter issues. A "library" of past newsletters is both appealing and useful to visitors and builds your credibility as an authority. In addition, if your articles are written with good SEO techniques in mind, they can send additional traffic to your web site through good search engine positioning.
  7. Contact other newsletter publishers. Introduce yourself and explore ways you may be able to help each other. Perhaps you can introduce other publisher's newsletters or print articles they have written to your list, with a link to sign up. When you contact them, be sure to tell them why you think THEIR readers would like what you have to offer and why YOUR readers would benefit from their newsletters. This is a win-win scenario; both of you will build your lists faster!
  8. Give away bonuses subscribers can use. Create an opt-in bonus for joining your subscriber list. You can write an ebook or PDF report, or even hire a programmer to create downloadable or web-based software. But don't limit yourself to only a gift for new opt-ins. Remind your readers that the next bonus is coming soon. People hate to miss out on things. If you systematically pass on "goodies" throughout the year, your subscribers are unlikely to leave.
  9. Ask your subscribers to pass it on. Word of mouth is a powerful viral technique that works great with email marketing. If your subscribers find the content you share with them to be informative, they will pass your newsletter on to their friends. This can be a good source of new subscribers.
  10. Let others reprint your newsletter as long as the content is not modified. Many webmasters and newsletter publishers are actively looking for high-quality content and, if they reprint your newsletter, you will get new subscribers, traffic and links pointing to your site.
  11. Include a "Sign Up" button in the newsletter. If you are using plain text instead of HTML, provide a text link to your subscription page. You may feel that this is not required because the subscriber is already on your list, but remember that readers will forward your newsletters to others, or reprint it online. You want to make it easy for them to subscribe.
  12. Add a squeeze page. A squeeze page has one goal − to get an opt-in and build your list. Think of it like a mini-sales letter for your subscription or opt-in bonus. It features a powerful headline and a couple of very important benefits that should make subscribers salivate to sign up to your list. Once created, use a service such as WordTracker to find hundreds of targeted keywords, and advertise there using pay-per-click advertising from Google, MSN and Yahoo.
  13. Include testimonials on your squeeze page. This is crucial. Put 1 or 2 strong testimonials from satisfied subscribers on your squeeze page. This can be in any format, but you may find that multimedia (audio or video social proof) is more "believable". To increase that believability, include full names, locations and/or urls; don't use "Bob K, FL" as a testimonial name.
  14. Blog religiously. Blogging is a great way to communicate with your potential customers, and it creates a nice synergy with your email marketing. Be sure to include your newsletter sign-up form on each page of your blog. You can start a free blog at Blogger or Wordpress.
  15. Post on other blogs. Post great comments and information on similar blogs with a link to your squeeze or opt-in page. Also comment on others' blogs through trackbacks. In most cases, your comments will be posted on their blogs with a link back to your site. This is an easy way to generate new traffic and subscribers.

About AutoResponders

AutoResponders are simply Tools that allow you to keep an updated email list of people who are interested in your products or services. They also allow you to automatically send out replies when a visitor signs up to your list. The features vary slightly of each AutoResponder Provider. Things like pricing per message sent, ability to send html emails, and whether advertising is in each message or not are some of the things to consider when choosing an autoResponder. A good one to start out with that I suggest for anyone would be GetResponse. GetResponse has 30 days free trial so you can test it out. Although they are not the only ones who Provide a free trial. There are many more that do but until you find one that you are satisfied with you may not want to start building your list of signups yet. Another on and my personal favorite is "TrafficWave AutoResponders" because of the potential earning capacity of their Affiliate Program. Most AutoResponder Sites have some kind of affiliate program, meaning that you can earn money by referring others to use their AutoResponders, so you also might want to consider that when making a purchase. They vary by how much they pay out.

Here On My Blog You will find at least 18 AutoResponders and more to come that you can choose from. Ten of the best ones are listed in the voting booth. Also keep in mind, there are two different types of autoresponders. The more popular it seems is the type where you pay a monthly fee to the provider that hosts the autoresponder. These are the kind I have listed in the voting booth. Then there are those for more experienced users who would like to upload the scripts to their web site and do all the upkeep themselves for a one time fee to buy the software. That may sound good, but it may also become your worste nightmare too if you're not good with scripts, and don't forget to back up your email list. Also hosting your own email autoresponder list can possibly lead to more Spam Complaints and put your site in danger of being shut down from your web host provider. Many site owners settle for AutoResponder Providers Like GetResponse or TrafficWave just to be safegurded against Spam Complaiints like that. This is because they have strict guidlines for using double optin list generation and bouncing email address recognition and removal of bad email addresses which helps control most any potential spam incidents.

How To Use An AutoResponder

An AutoResponder is an essential tool to build any business online. The reason you go into business is to find and keep your customers. An autoresponder will make this job so much easier for you so you can work on marketing your business.

There is a bit of confusion around the online community surrounding autoresponders. Some people think they are a piece of software for loading email addresses into so you can then blast thousands upon thousands of people your message and promote your business.

Nothing could be further from the truth!

What they were designed for is to allow you to collect the details of visitors to your web page. The way you do this is by offering a gift in exchange for the person's name and email address. You can actually collect a large number of details but on the first visit you would not want to try to collect their home address as you may not have much luck.

When the visitor completes this form they are giving you consent to send them information about your business and to deliver the gift that you offered. An autoresponder is a tool that you can have up to several hundred pre-written messages stored to be delivered at pre-determined intervals. This is a great way to build a relationship with your future customers.

When someone opts into your list, usually they will receive a message immediately, then several more a day or two apart and gradually the messages will get further apart up until they are around 1 week between mailings.

You will then be able to follow up with broadcast messages every time you have a special offer for your list or some content to pass on. The sole purpose is to create and maintain interest in your prospect. Your list is your customer base just like in an offline business.

Let's look at some other ways autoresponders can be used.

1. Training- When a customer buys your product or joins your team you should be collecting their details. You will provide them instructions to use the product or train them to build their team if they have joined your business.

2. Recruiting Affiliates- If you sell a product you will find that your best affiliates will be a happy customer. After you collect the details of your customers you should be reminding them that you have an affiliate program and that they can make some extra money referring people to your website.

3. Delivering The Product- You can use the autoresponder to deliver the digital product. You can add attachmentsto the messages like any other email or simply send them a link to the download page. Directly after the payment page you will ask the customer to enter their details so they can get the product delivered and be kept up to date with software upgrades or whatever is applicable to your product.

4. Reduce Refunds/Returns- After collecting your new customers details you would send them at least one unadvertised bonus. This would not be mentioned in the sales page and means you would be 'over-delivering' on your product. Another method I have seen is offering extra bonus products at say 15 or 30 days after the sale. The autoresponder can handle this easily and your refund rate should plummet if you can create extra value in these bonus offers.

5. Promote Back End Products- It is a lot easier to make a sale to someone who has brought from you before. You have their trust and as long as you recommend good products that make their life easier or help them build their business this can be the easiest way to maintain your income.

There are many more including collecting testimonials, checking up on your customers, surveying your customers and more. I am sure you would have just got your own idea after reading this article and are ready to get your own business on auto pilot by using an autoresponder.

Contact Importer with Email Invitation System…

Viral Marketing at it’s Best!

I found this site to be useful and wanted to share it with everybody. Have you seen those Contact Importers that social sites like MySace and others use to “Tell Your Friends” about that web site? Well Here is a Tool you may purchase and install on Your Web Site Server to replace your old Tell-a-Friend Script. It is reasonably priced and you can use it for up to 3 Web Sites so you can promote your site better by “word-of-mouth” advertising. I’ve heard that this type of advertising is the best, and can spread like a virus. It’s what is known as Viral Advertising, and if this Contact Importer is used properly you may soon have hundreds if not thousands more visitors finding your site because they were told about it by somebody else who already visited your site. I myself have not yet installed the product yet but I know it works from the “see it in action demo” so I plan on buying it and installing it before my Santa Letters Online Web Site goes online this year.

So now you might be thinking, why am I pushing this product on an AutoResponder Blog? Let me explain. I mentioned earlier about “Viral Advertising” so to me, combining different forms of promotions together to work as a system contributes to the effect of Viral Advertising. In other words it promotes itself. Kind of like a snowball rolling downhill which gains momentum as it grows bigger. The more people that initially see your site and use the Tool to tell others the more visitors you’ll have in the long haul. Also similar to a matrix, for those of you into mlm marketing, I think you’ll understand already what I’m getting at. Read on and let’s tie it all together now.

OK, Assuming you now are convinced that this is perfect for your web site and are eager to start using this Tool, you will still need a good plan for adding it to your web site. Let’s also assume that you’re like most Web Site owners, you have your AutoResponder set up and already collecting some email addresses. (If not, there are plenty to choose from at this Blog. I recommend TrafficWave.) In order to install this on your site to work best you’ll want to put it where it’s most likely to be seen. Since I don’t know what your site is about, let’s just say that you want to put a link to the Contact Importer in a highly visible spot. Wherever your best content is on your site. I’d stay away from popups though After over decade of my being online, I’ve never saw a popup that I liked. Let’s face it, popups are intrusive to most web surfers.

Instead of using obtrusive methods why not let your AutoResponder and Contact Importer work together hand in hand. You may already be getting signups to your Mailing List via your AutoReponder and most every AutoResponder has an option to set your Confirmation Page to be a page you design on your own site, am I right? Then if your Site’s visitors liked your site enough to sign up for your mailing list then most likely they’ll want to share your site with others, however that will not happen in most cases unless you’ve made it easy for them. Now do you see where this can really help your site to gain the recognition it deserves? Imagine it now. After your visitors sign up for your mailing list and confirmed the Email, (for Double Opt-In Lists), they land on a page that not only confirms their subscription, but also has an easy to use form for them to let everybody in their address book know about your site.

Two Top Ways to Promote With Multiple Autoresponders

Three Letter Autoresponder Follow-up

by Dr. Kevin Nunley

A woman told me this week, “Your advertising is wasted if you don’t follow-up on your leads.” Her solution is to use a multiple autoresponder that sends her prospects a new sales message very few days.

People need to see your ad message several times before they buy. Those who buy on the first ad have already made up their mind after seeing someone else’s ad. Yours had the good fortune of reaching the customer at just the right time.

You can greatly increase sales with a three letter multiple autoresponder. There are a number of places to get these autoresponders free (fastfacts.net, getresponse.com, smartbotpro.net, xsponder.com) and others who sell up-graded service at low cost.

Make your first letter briefly present your offer. It should be designed to get attention and bring in those who tend to quickly make up their minds to buy.

Your second sales letter should arrive the next day. Make it longer and filled with details. About 70 percent of consumers are folks who need ALL the details before they will purchase. List your features and connect them with the benefit your customer will get from those features.

Your third sales letter should be scheduled to arrive several days later. Start with “Successful people are busy. I know you probably saw my earlier messages, considered them, but haven’t yet had time to respond.”

Then give them another rundown on your offer. Bring in a fresh angle so it doesn’t seem like they are reading the same letter they saw a few days ago.

More than three sales letters tend to get ignored. If you want to send more, have your fourth and fifth letters arrive weeks or months later. Scheduling a new letter to arrive every month can catch a prospect when they’re ready to buy.

Offer Your Own Email Course

One of the most successful marketing techniques I’ve found is offering your own course via autoresponders. I introduced my “Make Your Website Sell” course (yes, before MYSS came out) and it is still getting gobs of sign-ups every day. Feel free to use my articles as the lessons in your course (keep my contact info at the end of each article...but peope will give YOU credit for finding the information.)

Here is how to create yours:

1. Pick a problem that lots of your customers struggle with. In my business the big stumpers are getting a site that sells, finding a way to handle email, figuring out search engines, and finding low-cost ways to advertise effectively.

A course on any of these is guaranteed to bring lots of interested prospects and customers (and you can bet I’m plugging my ads here and there during the course).

Your course could be on how to complete a basement, how to avoid an IRS audit, how to give your kids straight teeth, or anything else that customers often ask about.

2. If you don’t write or have time to pen your own articles, look for others who have written on the topic. It is perfectly legal to put their ideas in your own words (always proper to give them credit).
You can also quote the article. It is best to ask in advance, if your course is for commercial purposes. Start your article, then say expert Jane Doe has some valuable information. Include a few paragraphs of what Jane wrote.

Be careful not to use so much you give away her entire article and spoil her ability to sell the information.

Need sales letters, web copy, a press release, or your own ezine article (with your name on it)? Let Kevin write it for you.

Choosing An AutoResponder for Your Mailing List Needs

Yesterday I added Two more autoresponders to the voting booth.

I use TrafficWave and recruit downline members to join that over all the others but that's for a reason which I'll explain in a moment. I realize that your reasons for choosing an autoresponder may be different than my reasons. Each autoresponder provider seems to offer something slightly different even though the basic service of providing the autoresponder service is still there. So my Reason for supporting TrafficWave is that it offers an appealing way to recruit downline and make money from their affiliate program. Their affiliate program is set up using the structure of a 3x10 forced matrix. And in my opinion, if you are thinking about even just trying to use autoresponders then why not try TrafficWave? If it serves the purpose AND makes you money then what have you got to lose?

Most autoresponders offer an affiliate program, at least the ones I list in my voting booth do. I will be reviewing each of them to the best of my abilities and give my honest opinions. I will mention features that may appeal to different people or different types of web sites. This process will not happen over night since I am budgeting most of my time in getting my Santa Letters Online site back up, but I will be doing a post for each one asap. You might want to subscribe or follow this blog if you think you'd like to hear more about my findings.

Hopefully all of the User Reviews and Posts you come across in your search for the perfect autoresponder does not confuse you or delay your decision. Your main goal when choosing an autoresponder should be to build an opt-in list of many thousands of clients or sales leads contact information. All autoresponders serve that purpose so the next most obvious feature to look at is the price. Does the price go up if I have more clients signed up to my autoresponder? After All, how can you agree to paying a higher monthly fee for your autoresponder service only because you have more prospects? Prospects are not sales, they're only leads. I wouldn't care to pay more if also the autoresponder somehow could guarantee me that it can change my leads into sales. That's my job isn't it? Turning leads into sales is what I need to learn. However, there is one way the autorersponder service can actually help turn leads into sales and that is by offering pre-written campaign letters for helping to makes sales commission by reselling their own service. Or better than that, If they could somehow offer pre-written campaign letters for other marketing ideas.

Questions to ask yourself when choosing an AutoResponder.

1. Do they offer a free trial?
2. Do they offer an affilaite program?
3. How much is the monthly fee?
4. Does the cost go up if I get more leads?
5. Do they have both text and html formats with Templates that I like?
6. How Reliable is the service? (Delivery Rate)
7. Is it easy to contact tech support?
8. Are there Training and support videos, users forum or other learning material?
9. Can you Import Leads? (If you have another service already with leads)

10. (Think about Your Web Site and What You need in an autoresponder. You can come up with more questions I am sure, but that is why I prefer the ones with 30 days free trial.)

Today I Started My AutoResponder Blog

Today, March 20, 2009. I started My AutoResponder Blog. I hope this Blog will prove to be useful to many who are struggling to find an online income opportunity and aid in getting started. I just became a member of TrafficWave AutoResponder last month. At this time I already have one upgraded member in my downline and two free trial members. Also my one upgraded downline member has three free trial members so this seems to be a great start.

So far my primary means of promoting my TrafficWave Referral Links are by Twitter and using TweetLater to automate sending out Tweets with my referral link added. I use TwitPWR for tracking links, that helps me somewhat to know which tweets people are clicking on.

I think I can make a good sponsor for people to join under for not only TrafficWave but a few other things too. However for now, I'm putting most of my efforts into TrafficWave. If you want more information about TrafficWave Just email me, or simply start out by subscribing to my email course... "How Autoresponders Can Make You More Money".

I have had fun and learned a lot since I started with TrafficWave One month ago. I've even had the opportunity to chat with the owner Brian Rooney on Twitter. He has been an inspiring influence on me and he loves helping people out. The forums on TrafficWave are full of direct responses from Brian himself where he answers all kinds of questions. I don't know if I can ever achieve as much as he has but I do know that His inspiration has helped me to be able to help others. His suggestion for starting a Blog was one good suggestion I followed up on by starting this Blog. Anyway, the idea here is to help others and in return you will realize you are helping yourself. That will be my primary goal with this Blog.

Anyway, whatever you do online I wish you success, but if you like anything I've said here, then please follow this Blog. Who knows, maybe I can help you out in some way. I'm not an experienced Blogger, in fact this is my first real Blog at least that has a purpose, so watch for updates. I'd like to share with you ways of promoting TrafficWave Or ANY other opportunity you may be involved in.
